Animal Backpack Reins For Independent Toddlers

One of the problems with children today is that, as parents, we’ve forgotten that they are hard wired to struggle for independence.

As soon as their legs have the necessary mechanics to move, they want to be given the freedom to use them, not be held back by any leash. It’s here that animal backpack reins can be a godsend.

When I was young, if one of my siblings got the hump about being held back when out walking, there would be no discussion.

The parent concerned would use one finger to lift the sulky chin, look into his or her eyes and advise, in no uncertain terms, that such conduct should stop forthwith. In other words, to pack it in… or else. And the possibilities of that ‘or else’ were more than sufficient to encourage the child to adhere to instructions and hold hands or the pushchair. No hanging on the reins and dragging mum or dad’s arm out of its socket.

In these politically correct times, now all a parent can do is cajole, hug, plead or even beg and, invariably, such solutions are in vain. This means that, by way of prevention, children spend far more time strapped into a pushchair to stop such altercations occurring out on the street.

But a brilliant designer has solved the problem. Animal backpack reins. Made of plush fur that is soft and silky and in the shape of a variety of cute critters, any child will love its new cuddly bag. And, for all parents, the godsend comes in the choice of animals because each one has a ‘tail’ in the form of a rein firmly attached to the bag.

As Junior trundles along the road, his parent can retain control by holding onto his tail and no animal will countenance the indignity of having its tail pulled so he tends to behave himself and not attempt to move too far out of range.

But there’s an added bonus. The baby rucksack can contain a fair number of those vital treasures without which our offspring seem reluctant to travel. When I was a child, my parents would certainly not have carried around a large hold-all, full of items to entertain me but this seems to be the norm these days. Mums and Dads laden down with child luggage and no free fingers to hold onto their kids.

Animal backpack reins – a multi-tasking solution as a favourite cuddly toy.
